The use of Blesbok leather is exclusive to Okapi. Working with a co-operatively run tannery in Outeniqua, we have developed our own signature Blesbok skin with an oily pull up finish, which is completely unique.
The Springbok is the national animal of South Africa. Springboks have a unique feature in the crown of the fur that is used in some of our bag and accessory styles. Okapi's Springbok is sourced in the Klein Karoo.
Okapi works with established ostrich farming communities of the Karoo region in South Africa. Working directly with the farmers and tanneries gives us a very unique insight into exactly where our skins come from. Ostrich leather is renowned for its distinct quill pattern.
Ostrich shin is sourced in the Karoo region of South Africa, as a bi-product of other farming practices there. The Karoo is known for producing the world’s finest ostrich related products and in particular its leather. Ostrich shin is characterised by its distinctive pattern and known for it luxurious nature.
Okapi source the crocodile leather used in its bags and accessories from the North West province of South Africa. Okapi work with a small sustainable crocodile farm and tannery, which is produces the finest quality crocodile leather.
The Springbok horn is a signature design feature of an Okapi bag. Sustainably sourced in the Karoo as a bi-product of established farming practices, the Springbok horns are individually prepared and polished by local artisans.
